A la entrada del estadio de mi Universidad en USA, hay un escudo de madera. Tiene escrito un mensaje en letras metálicas, a la vista de todo el que entra. Te lo copio aquí, porque me parece harto interesante y representativo de la cultura deportiva de esta gente. Se titula “vencedores o perdedores”.
Becoming a winner is no baby’s work, but becoming a loser is something anyone can do. Have you ever thought that what is the difference between a Winner and a Loser? No? Then, I am going to tell you the difference in some simple points.
Winner vs. Losers
1. A winner is always a part of the answer, a loser is always a part of the problem.
2. The winner always has the program, the loser always has an excuse.
3. The winner says, “Let me do it for you”; The loser says, “That is not my job”.
4. The winner sees an answer to every problem. The Loser sees a problem for every answer.
5. The winner says, “It may be difficult but is possible”; The Loser says, “It may be possible but is too difficult”.
6. When a winner makes a mistake he says, “I was Wrong”; When a Loser makes a mistake he says, “It wasn’t my fault”.
7. A winner makes commitments. A loser makes promises.
8. Winners have dreams. Losers have schemes.
9. Winners say, “I must do something”. Losers say, “Something must be done.”
10. Winners are part of the team. Losers are apart from the team.
11. Winners see the plain. Losers see the pain.
12. Winners see possibilities. Losers see problems.
13. Winners see the potential. Losers see the past.
14. Winners choose what they say. Losers say what they choose.
15. Winners use hard arguments but soft words. Losers use soft arguments but hard words.
16. Winners make it happen. Losers let it happen.
17. Winners plan and prepare to win. The keyword is preparation. Losers always plan and prepare to copy the winners.
18. Winners stand firm on values but compromise on petty things; Losers stand on petty things put compromise on values.
19. Winners are like thermostat; Losers are like thermometers.
20. Winners believe in winning. Losers believe for them to win someone has to lose.
